Description:
Danche – Goro Bedesa Washing Station, Gedeb, Ethiopia
This washed Ethiopian lot comes from the Goro Bedesa site in the Danche area of Gedeb, in the Gedeo Zone of South Ethiopia. The region is famous for producing elegant, expressive coffees – and this one is a stunner.
The Danche washing station receives ripe red cherry from registered outgrower farmers in the surrounding kebeles. Cherries are separated by lot, pulped on an Agard pulper that efficiently removes floaters, and Q1 and Q2 parchment is kept separate throughout processing. Fermentation takes place in carefully cleaned tanks for 48–72 hours depending on weather, before the parchment is washed and moved to shade beds for skin drying and hand sorting. Final drying happens slowly on raised African beds for 8–12 days, with frequent turning and careful sun protection to ensure even drying and preserve flavor clarity.
In the cup this coffee is juicy and complex, with bright cherry sweetness up front and a distinct black tea character through the finish. It’s clean, structured, and refreshingly elegant – everything we love about washed coffees from Gedeb.
