This coffee was grown by Magdaleno Rodriguez in on his farm 'Al Aguacate' in Intibuca, Honduras. Mr. Rodriguez has been farming there for 10 years, and currently has 8.5 of his 12 hectares in coffee production. He wasn't initially a specialty coffee producer, but after shifting to focus on higher quality through infrastructure and processing upgrades, he's happy and proud to be selling his coffees internationally. Our importing partners Nordic Approach are working with a group of farmers in Intibuca, Honduras that have formed a group that supports one another in specialty coffee production, investing in shared processing equipment and holding regular meetings to discuss best practices. Most specialty coffee coming out of Honduras comes from the Santa Barbara region - but we're excited that Nordic Approach has expanded their network in Honduras to other regions, and we're happy to support farmers there producing excellent coffees like this one!

We love the smooth, spicy flavors that are emanating from this cup - leading off with a strong, dark cocoa-like taste and a warm brown-sugar sweetness. It's a nice, comforting brew that seems purpose-built for these winter months, with a bit of cinnamon or cardamom spice adding some complexity and interest to an otherwise mellow cup. Sometimes, we all need a change of pace and this coffee is just the ticket. It's an easy-drinker that you'll probably want multiple cups of - we'd recommend a larger batch-type brewer if you have one handy - but as always - do what works best for you! No matter how you brew it - El Aguacate is sure to be a hit. Let us know how you like it by rating your brew below!
