Kanzu Lot 15

Processing: Washed
Crop Year: 2017
Origin: Nyamasheke, Rwanda
Producers: Karambi Small-holders
Altitude: 1800-2100m
Rwandan coffee often gets overshadowed by nearby Kenya and Ethiopia, but this is a lot that's sure to stand out! French Mission Bourbon plants growing in rich volcanic soil are a great start, and when you pair them with the Kanzu washing station's obsessive production standards you know you're in for something special. This coffee is remarkably unique, with a flavor profile unlike anything we're used to seeing in African coffees. A sweet cantaloupe note combines with light floral notes to create a sophisticated, almost delicate flavor. This coffee also has a decidedly creamy body, making it simultaneously heavy and light, smooth and airy. It's a truly unique combination, and we can't get enough of it!

Light, sweet flavors. Not overly acidic.

Literally tastes like you poured milk in your coffee. I usually drink my coffee black, but the rich flavor of this coffee is like no other, balanced with a light acidity that rounds out the flavor.

I tend to prefer a more caramel-centric flavor, but found this light coffee to be very good.

This isn't my typical style of coffee, so it wasn't #1 on my personal favorite list, but as a coffee drinker, I can say it's a very good coffee. It's lighter and has lots of sweet notes to it. It also has a little creaminess to it. I would recommend it to friends who like lighter coffees.

This light roast made an exceptionally smooth but at the same time sharp espresso. Was a little "tart" at the end, but delicious.

This is very close to my perfect espresso roast - amazing aroma, light roast so no burned flavor, yet not so light that there is a lot of green acidity. I would stock this one year-round if it was available.
