La Cristalina
Variety: Caturra, Colombia
Processing: Washed
Crop Year: 2016
Origin: Guatica, Colombia
Producer: Guatica Small-holders
Altitude: 1500-1900m
This coffee comes from the municipality of Guatica in the Risaralda department of Colombia. Farmers from five villages in the municipality have come together to form a coffee association called "La Cristalina," named after the crystal-clear waterfall in the municipality. Together, they share techniques and resources, continually improving their farms and production practices. This washed coffee is crisp and refreshing, reminiscent of its namesake. Strong mint and lemongrass notes make a flavor that's mellow and sippable, before a smooth fruity sweetness comes in to finish out the cup. A coffee this smooth and consistent is a nice change of pace from the often bold and bright flavors you find in premium coffee, and we're excited for you to try it!

I really like the sweetness of this blend. I normally prefer a smoother, bolder roast - but loved the complexity of this brew and could definitely taste the mint and lemongrass.

This has really hit the spot. Makes a great iced coffee as well. You can really taste all the flavors they mention in this.

To my surprise, the mint and lemongrass notes were easy to pick up and actually worked out really well. Made on Chemex.

This is a flavorful light roast. I usually stay away from fruity coffee because it can be too sweet and tart for me. I did not have a any issues with this one. Great for a cup and some Saturday morning cartoons.

I love the distinct taste of the coffee. It was like nothing I ever tried before and the flavor was wonderful. However, it was a little light for me. I normally prefer a darker roast. I will be sharing this with one with friends and family.

I brewed this as a pour over, and was so happy with the bouquet. Delightfully fruits and balanced acidity on the palate. One of my faves from MCC.

I use it to make bulletproof style, which does cover up the flavor a bit - but it still was able to come through and was delicious!

This coffee was exceptionally smooth and the flavors really came out when cold-brewed.

I used a medium grind and a heavier amount to brew a well-bodied pour-over.

A nice cup, smooth mouth feel and wonderfully aromatic. My favorite coffees are ones that make your mouth water as it’s brewing and this one does it nicely.
