Santa Ana, El Salvador
Variety: Pacas, Bourbon
Processing: Washed
Origin: Santa Ana, El Salvador
Producers: The Salaverria Family
Altitude: 1500-1700m
Hailing from a tablon high up the side of the tallest volcano in El Salvador, Llamatepec is a premium lot of bourbon and pacas coffee from the Santa Ana region's Salaverria family. This particular lot was double soaked at their Las Cruces mill to produce an exceptionally clear cup with vibrant flavors. Coffees at Las Cruces are spread out on African beds and clay patios to dry in the sun and are raked continually to ensure that the beans maintain a consistent moisture content throughout the lot. The Salaverrias run a great coffee operation and are constantly experimenting with different processing methods and drying practices. The double soaked bourbons they're growing are excellent, and we're waiting anxiously to see what they come up with next.
Llamatepec is one of those coffees that piques your interest with its aroma. A strong floral note of orange blossom captivated us from the beginning and lingers throughout the entire cup. The flavor profile consists of a juicy grape note and some vibrant peach notes that come through in spades. The subtlety of the floral note strikes a great balance with these sweeter flavors and really ties everything together into a cohesive cup of coffee that's sure to please every palate. No matter what type of coffee you usually prefer, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Llamatepec. Give a few different brewing methods a try and let us know what you like best, we love to hear from you!

Thanks to the holiday, we have some extra coffee, so this bag was relegated to espresso duty. It was the right choice, since it's superb. The flavors all come together really well for a nice flavorful shot. The peach really shines with a nice bit of orange balance in the aftertaste.

This is a very rounded, light coffee, with definite hints of orange blossom--very delicate. Moustache coffees are always interesting, always different.

Huge fan, wife loved it as well. Definitely caught the peach notes towards the tail end of each sip, and the orange was evident throughout. Thank you Salverria Family!

I enjoyed this coffee FAR BEYOND anything ever purchased in the store. This definitely piqued my interest in the finer things in life (in regards to coffee), and I’m looking forward to trying a wide variety going forward. Moustache, you have a new subscriber!

Smooth, solid cup of coffee, but nothing that particularly stands out about it either. That speaks to the overall quality of the coffees I've been getting from MCC since joining last summer, but nevertheless, this one is a bit forgettable, relatively speaking.
