Huehuetenango, Guatemala

Description

Variety: Bourbon, Catuai

Processing: Washed

Origin: Huehuetenango, Guatemala

Producers: Arturo and Vielmann Villatoro

Altitude: 1600m

This coffee comes to us from right on the border of Guatemala and Mexico - at Arturo Villatoro's Los Angeles farm, which is managed by his son-in-law Vielmann. The structure of this farm is impressive: the Catuai and Bourbon plants grown on two sides of a steep ridgeline, with mature Chalum, Mandarín, and Capulin trees up top close to the ridge providing shade for the coffees during the day. This keeps the temperatures down for the coffees, encourages biodiversity on the farm, helps prevent erosion, and a whole bunch of other good things - in addition to producing a really delicious cup of coffee.

We mentioned this was a delicous cup of coffee, right? We're picking up on some classic Huehuetenango flavors here: a juicy and bright red cherry note along with a more subdued milk chocolate tone that gives the cup a great smoothness. There's some distinct sugary sweetness as well, that makes a brew of Los Angeles seem like a treat that you can enjoy any time of day.

Well balanced, buttery chocolate flavors

This definitely has a deep, buttery chocolate flavors, as well as light fruit overtones, which is one of my favorites. Blooms well and has a nice creaminess when preparing as a pour over.

Another great coffee from Moustache. I immediately noticed the delicious sweet-tart notes that are beautifully balanced with chocolate, making a very smooth sipping coffee. If you like light roasts, and enjoy trying different coffees every couple of weeks, Moustache is for you.

Smooth and interesting

Guatamala and Columbia seem to be my favorite growing locations thus far. This coffee is smooth and complex and is terrific with my Italian late night cupcakes. Highly recommend this coffee ! :-)
