This exceptional lot of coffee is the result of a new grower's initiative in Colombia that focuses on a key player in coffee production: the people that pick the cherries. In Colombia, all too often pickers (or 'recolectores') are underpaid and don't receive mandatory benefits like healthcare and pensions - leading many to abandon the job for other work. This project was a collaboration between fifteen small farms that agreed to specially train a team of coffee pickers and guarantee their salary and benefits via commitments from exporters to pay premiums for the harvested crops. It's a system that ensures the workers are compensated fairly and in turn, leads to higher quality lots since the pickers are specially trained. For small farms in the region that don't employ their own workers full time, we hope to see more of this system in the future, and more excellent lots as a result!

Recolectores is a coffee that's sweet and light - we're tasting notes of sugar cane and a bright zing of lemon, but neither of these flavors overpowers the brew. The cup maintains a composed and mellow profile - one where you can really enjoy the delicate balance of sweetness and acidity at play with surprising clarity. For washed coffee lovers, this is a must try!

bright and light

Light roast, but very pleasant on the palate, without too much acidity or sourness that light roast can have sometimes. Would definitely drink, but probably not choose to order. Light color, light body, smells great!

This is not what was sent to me. Also, please cancel my trial membership as I travel too much to receive and use your service. Good coffee, great service, just not for me. Than you.

I usually drink darker roasts, but this was a lovely weekend treat!

unique light roast

This was a very good coffee, I could definitely taste the hint of lemon. It's not a roast I would want every day because my preference is darker, but is a great change of pace.

Not my cup of coffee

The coffee was okay. I didn't enjoy it as much as I was hoping. I ended up mixing it with a darker roasted coffee I regularly use and it was enjoyable. (I am not a coffee connoisseur but am learning!)

Low key flavor

Definitely a more subtle flavor with lighter, muted, homogenous undertones. Not my favorite blend so far, but still enjoyable - kind of like the nilla wafer of the cookie world.

Tasty

Really enjoying this pick right now... It has all the great Colombian qualities that I've come to love with a few nuances that separates it from the usual. Acidity is bright but not aggressive, which I get a hint of lemon with. Brews very nicely in the kalita wave, with a medium body that's very smooth.
