Colombia Cup of Excellence 2020: 22nd
This is a special lot of Pink Bourbon coffee from the city of Palestina in Huila, Colombia. Producer Alexander Vargas Osorio grew this lot on his farm La Piragua and entered it in the 2020 Cup of Excellence auction in Colombia - where it placed 22nd overall. This might not sound impressive in isolation - but you need to remember that Colombia is one of the largest producers of specialty coffee in the world, and the Colombian Cup of Excellence is one of the most competitive COE auctions around! We're always excited when we can get a lot of Pink Bourbon for the club, let alone a top COE lot of Pink Bourbon!
The flavors we're getting out of this lot of delicious coffee are headed off by the classic floral quality that Pink Bourbon is known for. We're also picking up on a juicy cherry sweetness and a bright lemon acidity out of the cup, making for a brew that's as complex as it is delicious. COE coffees are always something special, and we're super grateful to be able to join with some other roasters in a buying group to be able to bring this coffee to the club. If ever there was an MCC coffee to savor - this is the one!

So much better than the last order. Sorry I don’t have time for longer review. They were good!

I've been brewing with the Kalita Wave 185 lately, and this coffee was delicious, with sweetness and a hint of the tart acidity that I've come to love in Pink Bourbon varietals. This particular coffee has a lingering richness and a bit more presence than many comparable coffees. That said, I could drink this coffee all day and be a very happy person! I brewed it up with 21.5g in, 355g out and the grind setting of 4M on a Baratza Vario grinder (with steel burrs). I immediately realized that 6oz of this coffee may vanish from my house rather quickly this week!
Roasting more on Friday. I'm definitely gonna snag another bag myself, it's great stuff!

this was the first package from moustache and I must say that I am very impressed. The coffee was wonderful, such an amazing cup. I tried it on the aeropress and on the V60. Both with a very typical recipe. 1:16 ratio. The beans smell great, the grounds smell great and the cup of coffee tasted excellent. I am on various other coffee subscriptions, none of which come even close to this quality.
Glad to hear it! The Cup of Excellence auctions don't mess around when it comes to quality, always a treat to score some beans from them to share with the club. :)

Quite possibly the best coffee I've ever tasted. Eminently sippable and smooth. Pink bourbon does not disappoint.

Hey Araminta, do you mean the last Tasting Series? Are you not a fan of Natural coffees?

No, I meant simply the previous shipment, but I’m having trouble locating the variety that was sent. Is there an online log of my preferences I’m missing?

Ok, you should see it in you account page under shipments https://www.moustachecoffeeclub.com/accounts/shipments

🤦🏼♀️😹my phone wouldn’t scroll so I didn’t realize that info was there. Turned my phone sideways and got it! Thanks! So, back to the beans... yes- I do like Naturals!

It was the Konga Kelloo #5 that didn’t suit me at all; despite adjusting my grinder, I just didn’t want to drink it. I know: strange.
