Finca Santa Elena was founded by David Guizado Centeno's father in the 1960s, and has been steadily growing and increasing cup quality since then. David went to university to study agronomy and has been putting that scientific knowledge and rigor to good use by producing some absolutely stellar coffees in the Chanchamayo province of Peru. These beans were carefully grown and then given a washed processing - which is unique in this area of Peru where most high-end coffees are processed as naturals - especially geishas. The decision came down to what would produce the most unique and distinctive cup, and we think they definitely made the right choice here.

Coffee varietals like geisha are usually lauded for their floral quality and delicate nature, which is why we find this particular coffee so interesting. A more weighty chocolate note defines the flavor profile, and we're also tasting notes of lemongrass and almond that complicate the taste and provide some texture to the overall brew. This lot really stands out not just for its high quality, but for its uniqueness compared to other high-quality lots. We knew we had to share it with the Tasting Series, and we'd love to know what you think!

Geisha!

I love this coffee! Unlike other geisha's, this coffee is not fruit forward. It has amazing aroma, a bit of vanilla, a bit of chocolate. Upon tasting, it is an earthy coffee, with notes of chocolate, tobacco, and a salted caramel finish. Low acid and great body.
