Fazenda Juquinha is producing some stellar coffee - as evidenced by Sean's recent trip to Minas Gerais. While he was there with Nordic Approach taking part in the APAS cup - this coffee from Fazenda Juquinha stood out amongst all the competitors as Sean's favorite, and we think you'll understand why as soon as you taste it. Fazenda Juquinha is a relatively small farm that was previously in soy and corn production. Siblings Roseane and Weder inherited the land from their late father and decided to pivot to producing specialty coffee - naming the farm 'Juquinha' in his honor. Initially, they did a lot of soil testing to determine the composition of minerals in the soil after years of other crops, and continue to focus most of their efforts on improving and protecting the farm's rich agricultural soil. Roseane's husband Ivan joined with them to help get the farm set up for coffee production - and now they're growing Yellow Catuai and Catucai plants, processing cherry on raised African beds, and utilizing their own milling equipment to produce specialty lots for export to lucky roasters like us!

The flavors from Juquinha are out-of-this-world sweet and delicate. Sean was most struck during the competition by the incredible tropical fruit notes this coffee exhibits - some really bright, bold notes like papaya and passionfruit. Since much of the Brazilian coffee that makes it to the states is commodity-grade coffee with more subtle, earthy notes - this coffee seemed like something from a totally different planet! The cup also presents some more delicate elements of flavor as well - a nice floral aroma and some mellow vanilla sweetness smooth things out and make the cup a bit more balanced than you'd expect from a natural coffee. This coffee is a show-stopper, and one that we think you'll want to brew a cup of right away!

One of our all-time favorites

The first sip of the first cup had for all the world a pickle flavor. I guess that's the "incredible tropical fruit notes" mentioned above? I thought it was going to be terrible but it's now one of our favorites. It's the kind of experience you can only get in a club like this.

My Wife’s Favorite

My wife insisted I write this review. She mostly thinks coffee if coffee, but absolutely loved this one. She hasn’t stopped raving about it for weeks!

Amazeballs

This was one of the most interesting coffees I have ever tried. It tasted like I brewed coffee using a filter made with flowers. Very unusual, but I wish I had more of this blend. It was fantastic.

Made my day!

Big in your face tropical fruit and a lively acidity are always a win for me. This really changed my opinion about where great coffee comes from because up until now I thought only African and a few Central American coffees could knock me off my feet. So thankful this family switched from growing corn and soy to coffee!
