Finca Viuda
Variety: Catuai
Processing: White Honey
Origin: Tarrazu, Costa Rica
Producers: Roger Urena
Altitude: 1700m
Roger Urena is a master at the honey processing method, crafting nuanced coffees with a great balance of sweet and savory flavor notes. We're stoked to be bringing you another of his spectacular coffees, this time from his Finca Viuda farm in Tarrazu. These Catuai beans are white-honey processed and rotated during drying to encourage consistency bean-to-bean.
This coffee has a very straightforward caramel sweetness, which kicks off the flavor profile. A juicy red grape note accentuates the body, while an almond note offers a touch of nutty smoothness to the overall flavor. The layers of taste in Finca Viuda make for an involved and intriguing brew that we just love.

Thoroughly enjoyed this coffee. One of my favorites, so far.

This was my first experience with white honey processing. I'm a big fan of lighter, sweeter beans. My brain automatically assigned those kinds of qualities to this bean before I tasted it, because of the "honey" involved. Turns out, that's not what was in the cup. Don't get me wrong: It was really good. Nutty, caramel-y, slightly earthy. Enjoyed the whole bag. Just wasn't what I had planned for my palate.

Good taste; however, a bit sweet for my morning cup of coffee.

I've enjoyed Tarrazu coffees before, but I just loved this one. Apparently, sweet and nutty is my preference with coffees, but there was also an overall warmth to the flavor, and a lack of astringency, that I really appreciated.

Probably my favorite coffee ever. One of the sweetest and most balanced cups I’ve ever had, both in pourover and French press. Highly recommend! Please bring it back!!!

I really enjoyed the forward sweetness of this coffee. There is an overall nutty flavor that is very enjoyable. Brewed with Chemex, I highly recommend this variety.

Light and nutty, with a hint of sweetness. No sugar necessary here. Absolutely lovely.
