We were very excited to get our hands on this bourbon coffee from Enguier Dimas Orozco's Las Barrancas farm in Guatemala. The bourbon varietal is well-respected in the specialty coffee world for its full-bodied flavors and has really taken off in Latin American coffee production. The varietal originated in Yemen and was spread to other coffee-growing areas by French traders in the early 1800s. Bourbon plants yield similar amounts of coffee to typica plants, but are more susceptible to disease and pests, making it all the more impressive when farmers like Mr. Orozco produce lots of bourbon coffee as delicious as this!
The flavor of Las Barrancas is the epitome of smooth. The vanilla note is both sweet and floral, layering perfectly over a cool melon note that provides this cup with a juicy body. We also love the warm caramel flavors that this cup exhibits, accentuating the smoothness of the body and grounding the lighter flavors in a rich sweetness that becomes more pronounced as the cup cools. Wonderful aroma inviting your immediate brew with no delay. Smooth taste with hint of vanilla and faint caramel. A delightful full bodied coffee for anytime of the day. Highly recommended.

Excellent
As the weather starts to cool in the mornings here in Northern California, coffee with a bit of warmth -- in its taste profile -- is most welcome. The Las Barrancas when brewed with care provides a nice smooth cup of coffee in the morning. The slight sweetness in the caramel flavor combined with the smoothness is a combination that I greatly enjoy. I look forward to more bourbon coffee in the future. Thank you!

Great Flavor
Great flavor and definitely smooth. I was afraid I made it with too much water, but it came out perfect.

Solid and smooth cup.
You won't find exceptionally vibrant flavors here but the almond is balanced by moderate sweetness and the other flavors. Full-bodied without being overly complex. A smooth and rich coffee that is simple without being dull.

Surprising!
Personally I am typically a Dark Roast Guy, have been for quite a few guys. The first taste of this Roast alerted me how much I might be missing out by limiting myself to nothing but the "Darks". The Aroma when the bag was first opened (BTW the packaging on this, my first bag from Moustache, blew my mind - I just knew this was going to be special) filled the room, my Wife immediately was curious as to what I had opened. Vanilla is such a pleasant and comforting aroma. I intentionally awoke earlier than normal the next Morning, normally I am up at 04:30 but pushed that back to 04:00, to make sure I could carefully brew this up, and then relax and enjoy it before having to get ready for work. I was well into my third cup when I looked up an realized I was running late. I was enjoying the depths of flavours that crossed my palate, each taste a little more complex than the last. I have to say it is probably the best cup of coffee I have had this year. Can't wait to see what's next. Happy Brewing...

Las Barrancas is a nice, round coffee, smooth with a subtle sweetness at the end. Light roast fans will enjoy this one.

Light for my Taste
3 T/FrenchPress/5min::: Still learning the language, so this coffee, although delicious (HINT: ALL THOSE RECD FROM MOUSTACHE are AWESOME), I will describe as a 'light tasting' coffee, to me anyway, this is not a 'heavy' coffee. I taste the vanilla initially, and then my taste buds get lost in the caramel. I do taste a bit of 'sweet' or 'fruity', so maybe this is where I get the 'light' flavor opinion. It's a great coffee. As they all are/have been. Just discovering, that I am more of a depth kinda drinker and have, so far gravitated toward the chocolate/deeper flavors, especially first thing in my morning. This, however, makes an AWESOME afternoon/early mini vaca. Thanks Moustache! Glad I /we became one of your snobs.
